Frequently asked questions

Where does Hyperlocal data come from? Hyperlocal does not have an up-to-date truck/container monitoring system on the roads. This would be prohibitively expensive and unnecessary. Instead, we collect local level trade flow: amount of products produced and shipped by industry in regions in Europe. If products have been produced, they need to pe shipped, so we estimate how many trucks, containers, trains are required to ship the products produced for various destinations. We than compare our estimates with some of the lanes that we know quite well to assess the reliability.
Why is the data priced higher per lane than routing platforms? Our data is affordable if used correctly. The intended workflow is only requesting information for the lanes the carrier has not covered before. If your workflow requires requests for every lane that you price, please reach out to us for a bulk data quote.
I don't know coding and don't use API, can I still use Hyperlocal data? Many carriers do not need full data integration with their internal systems. Instead they prefer to work in Excel. This is absolutely fine. You can download a sample Excel spreadsheet already linked with our data. All you need to do is copy your API key that you receive by email in full in the API key tab of the spreadsheet and begin to use the data in Excel - no coding required.
Is REST API service available? Yes, you can use the API key to integrate our data with your workflow. The documentation is available at api.hlocal.io/docs.
Why does Hyperlocal use an external provider for e-commerce? We use Lemon Squeezy as a store front and customer portal. This way we can focus our effort on what we are passionat about - data, while Lemon Squeezy handles what they are best at. What this means is that all payment related queries will handled by Lemon Squeezy, while Hyperlocal will take care of the data access and support related to data.
